Targeting harsh environments, the CSBX-3545A offers a rugged PowerPC solution in 3U CompactPCI form factor. Today, ACTIS Computer introduces this new greatly enhanced revision offering more features and improved architecture, available both in commercial, industrial and conduction cooling military grade versions.

We will also introduce our second PowerPC COM Express module in September. This new PowerPC board based on the last AMCC PPC460EX PowerPC processor running from 600 MHz up to 1.2 GHz. The XCOM-9460 supports a graphical interface with standard peripherals including 2x Gigabit Ethernet, 2x USB2, 1x SATA, PCI, PCIe, VGA, LVDS, etc.

Both products are supplied with the industry standard U-boot bootloader. The GNU/Linux (based on Debian 4) is fully supported. VxWorks 6 RTOS environment and other embedded RTOS can be supplied on request.

CSBX-3545A is a new improved design of our CSBX-3545 offering a high density solution for harsh applications requiring a compact and rugged processor board.

The second generation CSBX-3545A includes:

Faster DDR2-400 vs DDR-333 memory support.

Front Gigabit Ethernet connectors for commercial grade instead of rear I/O only.

Improved power supply design offering better noise immunity.

Improved PCB layout for long term availability.

Based on the PowerPC MPC8545E processor, the CSBX-3545A offers a cost effective computing unit for intensive data processing and network communications. The MPC8545E is rated 2765 DMIPS @ 1.2 GHz with a 512 kByte L2-cache and it includes a dual precision arithmetic unit. Up to 1 GByte DDR2 memory is available, with 8 MByte NOR Flash, and up to 1 GByte NAND Flash.

The security engine includes Kasumi algorithm acceleration, making the MPC8545E an ideal choice for enhancing security protocol processing in advanced networked applications.

The on-board programmable user's FPGA is available for embedded controllers and application specific functions. A dedicated SDRAM memory is attached to the FPGA for local data computing and storage.

Three ruggedization levels are available:

Commercial grade (0/+55 °C)
Industrial grade (-25/+71 °C)
Extended grade (-40/+85 °C)

Extended grade is only available in conduction cooling version.

An optional conformal coating option is avaialble on request.

Compact PowerPC COM Express module

ACTIS Computer announces a new COM Express module based on the PowerPC architecture.

The XCOM-9640 is a new member of ACTIS Computer Compact COM Express Family. Built on the compact form factor (95 x 95mm), this module uses the latest embedded PowerPC processor from AMCC. The 460EX processor is available at up to 1.2 GHz frequency rated 2400 DMIPS and 2400 MFLOPS.

An optional on-board graphic controller is available for embedded applications requiring a human machine interface (HMI) like a touch panel LCD. It supports 8 MByte of memory, a 200 MHz RAMDAC, and a resolution up to 1280x1024.

An on-chip Security Engine (H/W Encryption) is designed to off-load computationally intensive security functions, such as key generation and exchange, authentication and bulk encryption from the processor core for the two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.

A S-ATA2 port as well as a PCIe x4 port are also provided to support even more extensions.

This module is also available in extended temperature range -40/+85°C.
